Universal Currency Converter · Last updated: June 7, 2026
Universal Currency Converter detects prices on the web pages you view and displays the equivalent amount in a currency you choose. All detection and conversion happens locally, inside your own browser.
Your preferences — chosen currency, display style, on/off state, and the "$" mapping — are saved using Chrome's built-in storage. If you have Chrome sync enabled, Chrome may sync these settings across your own devices through your Google account. The developer of this extension has no access to that data and never receives it.
To find prices, the extension reads the text of pages you open. This reading happens entirely within your browser and in real time. Page text is never sent to the developer or to any server. It is used only to display a converted amount and is not stored.
To show conversions, the extension requests current exchange rates from public providers (open.er-api.com and, as a fallback, frankfurter.app). These requests ask only for general exchange-rate tables and contain no personal information and nothing about the pages you visit. Rates are cached in your browser and refreshed periodically. Those providers may log standard technical request data (such as IP address) as described in their own privacy policies; the extension sends them nothing else.
The extension is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children, and it does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
